City of Ratingen
One of the traditional centres of the Rhein/Ruhr metropolitan region, the city borders directly on Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Mülheim and Essen. The region is home to around 3 million people and the place of work for around 1.3 million. Thanks to its proximity to Düsseldorf International Airport and the A3, A44 and A52 motorways, Ratingen offers an ideal setting for business and for living.
The business location
With approximately 92,000 residents, Ratingen is the largest town in the Mettmann district.
It is a highly interesting business location, as it is situated in the direct vicinity of the state capital as well as Düsseldorf International Airport.
Residents appreciate Ratingen for being an amiable urban centre marked by tradition that harbours many retail attractions, a varied culinary offering, ample green areas and an excellent infrastructure.
Economy
Ratingen has become popular with many globally operating domestic and foreign companies.
Big names from the information and communications technology industry include Vodafone, Hewlett Packard, SAP, Nokia and E-Plus. In addition, various leading players from other industries – Coca Cola, Esprit, Keramag, LG Electronics and Makita, to name just a few – have chosen Ratingen as their home base.
All of these companies make use of the impressive benefits the city offers to business – its great geographical location close to sales markets and customers, its excellent infrastructure, as well as world-class office buildings and commercial properties.
Despite these locational advantages, trade tax rates and real estate prices/costs are generally lower than in the surrounding big cities.
